GAELTACHT GHAZALS

II

a day where everything takes on meaning
seaweed becomes an amulate to ward of demons

a serious red-headed child makes me think of athena
and the forlorn things she said before she left

pebbles become prayer beeds
an inclined rock formation plato's cave

pedraig who lost his sight sits next to the lobster traps
an oracle with feet dangling over shallow water

a rainstorm is a map
towney pier the wailing wall

the past is a strange country
with shifting borders and bad weather
